Michael Strizki's Fantastic Solar Hydrogen Home

In 2006, Mike took his home off of the electrical power grid. Ever since, he has been generating his own electricity. All of Mike's electrical power comes from solar energy. He usually generates 160 percent more energy than he needs to power his home. Mike isn't likely to sell his power to the grid. Instead, Mike uses the excess electrical power to make hydrogen, which he stores in tanks, to run his car on. Mike has proven that it is possible for you to power your home and car from solar power.

Sway MotorSports revealed at CES 2014

Sway Motorsports has been busy showing off a clever three-wheeler compact all-electric vehicle. The contraption, which uses a linkage system to allow leaning, is designed to provide "the thrill and manoeuvrability of motorcycling without the same risk of falling".
What is Sway?
Sway is a compact all-electric vehicle that provides the thrill and maneuverability of motorcycling without the same risk of falling.
Sway's patented tilting system allows unparalleled handling on crowded city streets, and greater stability on loose and uneven surfaces or rain-slicked roads.
Somewhere between skiing and motorcycling, the feeling is unique, but easily learned. Once it is learned, riders enjoy the most responsive, dynamic and thrilling small vehicle on the road.
Reports say Sway Motorsports has been working on the three-wheeler for a number of years. Two versions are currently in beta testing, the Sway Basic and Sway Lithium. The former is powered by a lead acid battery-while the latter gets a 'LiFoPo4' battery.

The main difference is that on a Sway, riders have direct control of vehicle tilt with their legs, through the patented linkage design. This allows the vehicle to be operated in a totally distinct manner from a motorcycle or a Piaggio MP3 -- Sway can turn tighter, and riders don't have to balance the vehicle or put their feet down at a stop.
The direct control of tilt with the legs, along with a slightly wider footprint, means that Sway offers riders greater stability in low-traction conditions such as snow, mud or ice.
Our experience is that people who ride a Sway quickly become comfortable with it and strongly prefer it to a two wheeler. The experience of riding a Sway is totally unique - Several of our early adopters are not scooter riders at all!
We're only pre-selling 300 for 2015, so we suggest you reserve your Sway with a $100 deposit, then try one out at one of our Demo Days to see if it works for you. We're so confident you will want it after riding it, that if you change your mind at that point, your deposit is fully refundable -- We'll even pay the processing fee ourselves.

2014 Renault 141MPG Plug-In Hybrid

Renault / Nissan is already a global leader in electric vehicle technology which, if combined properly with an internal combustion engine and transmission setup, should make for some impressive plug-in hybrid vehicles. Interestingly, we have not seen too many Nissan or Renault hybrid vehicles, only pure conventional and pure electric.
A rumored plug-in hybrid concept for 2014 might change it all. For the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, Renault could be showing a plug-in hybrid concept about the same size as the Clio, but with a fuel-economy rating of about 140 mpg (miles per gallon). The Renault Clio is a four-door hatchback with already-impressive fuel economy, between 51 mpg and 88 mpg, depending on model, and the addition of a hybrid power train could only add to that.
There are a few plug-in hybrid vehicles pushing 100 mpg, including 108 mpg Ford C-Max Energi and the 115 mpg Honda Accord PHEV. Some plug-in hybrids are pushing 200 mpg, such as the 214 mpg Volkswagen Twin-Up! and the 261 mpg Volkswagen XL1. At 141 mpg, the Renault plug-in concept seems doable, and Renault head of research, advanced studies and materials Remi Bastien also says an eventual production version of the car would be affordable. It will be a B-segment car with Clio-type features in terms of space and comfort,” which is good news for buyers.

2014 ZERO SR ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE

Electric motorcycle maker Zero awards its first “R” to the most powerful bike it’s ever built.
The electric revolution continues. The new R version of the Zero S offers riders 56 percent higher torque and 24 percent more power—106 pound-feet and 67 horses—and means the Zero SR can hit 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and 102 mph, according to Zero. Which is impressive enough on paper, but even more electrifying when you actually unleash that torque from between a couple lanes of stopped cars.

What you’re looking at is a 75-7 passively air-cooled, high efficiency, radial flux, permanent high-temp magnet, brushless motor controlled by your basic high-efficiency 660-amp three-phase brushless controller with regenerative deceleration. Plug it into your standard 110-volt outlet, and you’re fully charged in about 10 hours.
Other components have been upgraded to keep pace with that 660-amp motor controller and its sleek new integrated heat sink: Now there’s a stronger, adjustable 43mm fork, improved rear suspension, wider triple clamps, a more robust frame/swingarm design and improved brake calipers and larger diameter rotors.
FEDERAL AND STATE INCENTIVES

A TECH startup is launching a new device that transforms almost any bicycle into an electric-hybrid vehicle using an app on a smartphone.
The device, called the Copenhagen Wheel, is installed as part of a rear hub of a bike wheel and is packed with a proprietary computer, batteries and sensors that monitor how hard a rider is pedaling and activate an onboard motor whenever support is needed.
The device uses wireless connectivity to communicate with the biker's smartphone to track distance travelled, elevation gained, share with friends the number of calories burned and lock the wheel remotely as soon as the owner walks away from the bike.
"The motor integrates itself with the rider's motion very, very seamlessly," said Assaf Biderman, who co-invented the device at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's SENSEable City Lab, where he is associate director.
"It's almost like having a riding companion riding together with you, making the ride easier, simpler."
The combination of power from the Copenhagen Wheel and the cyclist's energy can make an average biker move "almost like a Tour-de-Franc-level athlete in your daily commute," said Mr Biderman, who founded Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Superpedestrian, which has secured an exclusive license for the technology from MIT.
The Copenhagen Wheel packs sufficient power to propel a rider as fast as 60 km/h, but developers have put speed limits in software to meet local speed limits, effectively turning off the motor once the speed reaches 20 mph in the US and 25 kilometres elsewhere.
The Copenhagen wheel Technical specifications:
MOTOR US: 350W / EU: 250W
WEELE SIZE 26" or 700c rim

TOP SPEED US: 20 mph
EU: 25 km/h
BRAKE TYPE Rim brake and regenerative braking (downhill and back-pedal)
RANGE Up to 50 km / 31 mi
WEIGHT 5.9 kg / 13 lbs
DROPOUT 135 mm
THE COPENHAGEN WHEEL
Smart, responsive and elegant, the Copenhagen Wheel is a new emblem for urban mobility. It transforms ordinary bicycles quickly into hybrid e-bikes that also function as mobile sensing units. The Copenhagen Wheel allows you to capture the energy dissipated while cycling and braking and save it for when you need a bit of a boost. It also maps pollution levels, traffic congestion, and road conditions in real-time.
SENSE and SUSTAINABILITY
Controlled through your smart phone, the Copenhagen Wheel becomes a natural extension of your everyday life. You can use your phone to unlock and lock your bike, change gears and select how much the motor assists you. As you cycle, the wheels sensing unit is also capturing your effort level and information about your surroundings, including road conditions, carbon monoxide, NOx, noise, ambient temperature and relative humidity. Access this data through your phone or the web and use it to plan healthier bike routes, to achieve your exercise goals or to meet up with friends on the go. You can also share your data with friends, or with your city - anonymously if you wish thereby contributing to a fine-grained database of environmental information from which we can all benefit.
ABOUT the PROJECT
The Copenhagen Wheel will be unveiled on December 15 at the COP15 United Nations Climate Conference. The project was conceived and developed by the SENSEable City Lab for the Kobenhavns Kommune. The prototype bikes were realized with the help of our technical partner Ducati Energia and funding from the Ministry for the Environment. Progical Solutions LLC provided technical support for the iphone control of the bikes.
The components of the project are an electric bicycle wheel that can be easily retrofitted into any regular bicycle and location and environmental sensors which are powered by the bike wheel and in turn provide data for a variety of applications.
The Copenhagen Wheel project demonstrates that small intelligent implementations can lead to major changes. This work will be displayed at the 2009 Cop 15 UN Climate Summit where the next version of the Kyoto Protocol will be signed.
