BMW i8 production model, official in Frankfurt: [VIDEO]

Here it is finally! Teased since the end of 2010 with the BMW i8 Concept, the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show hosts the premiere of the most innovative 
Coupe ever produced by the company and the first sports car to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain!
It is a 2 +2 Coupe with a CFRP cell and an aluminum structure weighing only 1490 kg!
This plug-in hybrid sport car combines a 1.5l three-cylinder TwinPower Turbo that develops 231hp and 320 nm on the rear wheels with an electric motor of 131 hp and 250 nm on the front wheels! Therefore, the BMW i8 is 4WD a combined ouput of 362 hp and 570 nm for a 0 to 100 kph in 4.4 seconds - the transmission is a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Weight is kept low also thanks to a small 5kWh battery – indeed, the range extender technology allows to maximize efficiency, even from a small battery – the electric range only is announced at 35km (120kph max speed) and climbs up to 500 km in combined mode with fuel consumption of 2.5l/100km!
The design of the i8 Concept is kept broadly only the headlights are a little bigger but this black livery unknown until is a real stunner delight - aerodynamic Cd is listed at 0.26!
The interior receives a panel of technologies Connected Drive, i Drive, Online Entertainment and Concierge Services.
The assembly and carbon production are made from renewable electricity.
