Suzlon enters Uruguay

Indian wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon has landed a 65MW hardware order in Uruguay, its first in the South American country.
The deal covers installation of 31 S95 2.1MW turbines under a full engineering, procurement and construction contract.
The client is Rouar S.A., a joint venture outfit between Uruguay’s state-owned utility UTE and its Brazilian counterpart Eletrobras.
The project is located in Uruguay’s southern department of Colonia and is slated for completion in September 2014.
Suzlon chairman Tulsi Tanti said the order is a “big step forward in our push into South America” and underscores the company’s strategy to expand into emerging markets.
