A PLANNING application for Harbourcross wind farm in Torridge has been changed to reduce the height of the five turbines.
Wind Ventures has announced the turbines will be reduced from 126 metres to 107 metres – a reduction of 16 per cent.
The planning application for the site to the north east of Meddon was submitted to Torridge District Council in May 2012.
The proposals estimate the project would generate enough energy to potentially power around 5,500 homes in the district.
Adrian Butler, project manager director at Wind Venutres, said: “We believe there is a strong case for the Harbourcross wind energy development.
“A decision has been taken to reduce the height of the turbines after reviewing feedback on our planning application and in discussion and consultation with the local authority.
“The original planning application has therefore been withdrawn and a new one that reflects the modifications submitted to Torridge District Council for consideration.”
If planning permission is granted Wind Ventures has pledged to set up a community benefit fund of around £20,000 for the 30 year operational life of the project.
