YouTube’s DRIVE channel test specialist Chris Harris took the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive for a quiet spin around the track.
He had the pleasure of testing Mercedes-Benz’s most expensive model on sale today which carries an electrifying price tag in Germany of 416,500 EUR (including VAT). Although it looks just about the same as the regular version, underneath the shiny metal it has four synchronous electric motors rather than a conventional gasoline engine.
These motors have a combined output of 740 bhp (551 kW) and 999 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque, making the Electric Drive 177 bhp (132 kW) and 351 Nm (259 lb-ft) more powerful than the 6.2-liter V8 inside the "regular" SLS AMG. It can run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 3.9 seconds and reach an electronically-capped top speed of 155 mph (249 km/h).
