The FIA Formula E Championship now has 6 teams. The latest team to join is Super Aguri, a Japanese team founded this year by four partners. The most famous partner is Aguri Suzuki, who spent 8 seasons as an F1 driver between 1988-1995, and was team owner of Super Aguri F1 from 2006-2008.
Aguri Suzuki said that Formula E racing opens a new chapter for the Super Aguri racing name. “…I’m proud that our team will represent Japan in the inaugural Formula E series. Zero emissions racing is a progressive concept for the motorsport industry, and after more than 40 years as both a driver and team owner, I see Formula E as a great stride towards the future.”The FIA Formula E Championship now has 6 teams. Team principal Mark Preston worked with Aguri Suzuki on the Super Aguri F1 team, and said “I’m proud that our team will represent Japan in the inaugural Formula E series. Alejandro Aga, CEO of Formula E Holdings, said he was pleased to be welcoming another high profile name onto the Formula E grid. “It’s a real honor to have a Japanese team and we hope this will lead to interest from manufacturers and possibly even a Formula E race there in the future.”
