Super Aguri is 6th team to join Forumla E

The FIA Formula E Championship now has 6 teams. The latest team to join is Super Aguri, a Japanese team founded this year by four partners. The most famous partner is Aguri Suzuki, who spent 8 seasons as an F1 driver between 1988-1995, and was team owner of Super Aguri F1 from 2006-2008.

Aguri Suzuki said that Formula E racing opens a new chapter for the Super Aguri racing name. “…I’m proud that our team will represent Japan in the inaugural Formula E series. Zero emissions racing is a progressive concept for the motorsport industry, and after more than 40 years as both a driver and team owner, I see Formula E as a great stride towards the future.”
Team principal Mark Preston worked with Aguri Suzuki on the Super Aguri F1 team, and said “I’m proud that our team will represent Japan in the inaugural Formula E series. Zero emissions racing is a progressive concept for the motorsport industry, and after more than 40 years as both a driver and team owner, I see Formula E as a great stride towards the future.”
Alejandro Aga, CEO of Formula E Holdings, said he was pleased to be welcoming another high profile name onto the Formula E grid. “It’s a real honor to have a Japanese team and we hope this will lead to interest from manufacturers and possibly even a Formula E race there in the future.”
