ABU DHABI: Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, is holding a workshop at the Abu Dhabi Science Festival that teaches young people how to build their own wind turbines. The workshop will help children understand how a wind turbine works and is used to generate clean electricity. As an affiliate sponsor of the festival, Masdar intends to educate and interest young people in science and innovative technology.
Students who participate in the workshop will use a soldering iron to connect a generator to the turbine. Then they will test their turbine’s performance in a wind tunnel against those of other participants to see which one generates the most power.
