Mitsubishi has recently introduced the Outlander PHEV on the European market, with Holland being chosen for the event, as this is the number one country in Europe where hybrids and electric vehicles are best sold.
More than a year after making its public debut during the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with the vehicle finally making its way onto the Old Continent. The model in question is a plug-in hybrid and has officially entered production at the end of August, at the Okazaki plant in Japan and it’s based on the PX-MiEV II Concept.
The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is taking its power form a 2.0 liter MIVEC four-cylinder petrol engine, backed up by two electric motors, each on one axle, and a 12 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The electric motors can generate 81 HP (60 kW) and 195 Nm (144 lb-ft) of torque. Mitsubishi says that the Outlander PHEV can travel on electric power alone for up to 55 km (34 miles) and the total range of the vehicle stands at 880 km (547 miles).
The average fuel consumption of the Outlander PHEV is 1.6L / 100km (172.3 mpg UK / 143.5 mpg US).
