Elf Bike Comes to Danville

Danville, VA - Lots of people from all over the country were in Danville on Saturday to learn more about the growing popularity of electric bikes.
It was all part of a training course at Danville Community College for the Light Electric Vehicle Association.
Students got to learn more about an electric tricycle called Elf. It's a solar-chargeable bike that you can ride just like a regular bicycle. But the unique part is you can turn an electric motor on if your legs get tired, or you want to go faster.
Organic Transit based in North Carolina makes the bike and they've got more than 100 orders on it.
"It's better individualized transport," said Brian Highfill, a fabricator of Elf for Organic Transit. "Getting away from big cars and trucks and stuff like that and just going to things that work better for individuals."
