Dacia EV possible; JLR brand extension chief announced

Delft University students have acheived a 2.15sec 0-62mph time in their self-built racer

Students from Delft University in Holland have broken the world record for acceleration from 0-62mph in an electric car. The student’s achieved a time of 2.15sec, beating the previous 2.68sec record. Their self-built four-wheel drive race car weighs 145kg and was built of the Formula Student competition.
Dacia will be free to sell electric cars once the technology has come down in price sufficiently for them to be offered at a competitive price. “Today there is not the demand, but when we can produce a car which meets demand, we will”, said company boss Carlos Ghosn.
Former Land Rover global brand director John Edwards has been appointed managing director of JLR’s Individual Products Division. The newly formed division will create a range of brand extensions, including upscale ‘halo’ vehicles and lifestyle merchandise. Edwards will also be responsible for the firm’s Engineered to Order division, licensing and heritage vehicles across both Jaguar and Land Rover.
