Oakham Town Council has installed the first electric vehicle charging point in Church Street Car Park, Oakham.
The point can charge two cars at the same time providing a 75 per cent charge over a period of three hours and can be used day and night.
It has been funded thanks to two grants from Plugged-In Midlands and the local strategic partnership.
Owners of electric vehicles can apply for an access card from Plugged-In Midlands before they can start using the charging socket.
