Video: BMW's all-electric i3 to debut on July 29, 2013

The i3 will come with a rear-mounted electric motor developing 170PS of power and 250 Nm of torque.

BMW has made it official that the company’s first fully electric vehicle - the i3, will make its world debut at a special event on July 29, 2013. To keep the anticipation going, BMW has released a short video, announcing the arrival of the i3.
The BMW i3 features a rear-mounted electric motor developing 170PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. BMW claims a 0-100kmph time of 8 seconds, fairly impressive for a 1.3-tonne vehicle. The i3 will be capable of running for 130 to 160 km on a full charge though BMW will also offer a range extender version with a two-cylinder engine.
The petrol engine, working in combination with the electric motor, will further increase the range by another 130 to 160 km. The i3 will go on sale in Europe later this year in both all-electric and the range extender version.
