Cuba to Help Jamaica on Manufacturing of Solar Panels

Cuba will be providing expertise to Jamaica on the manufacture and assembly of solar light panels, according to Jamaican Energy Minister Philip Paulwell.
The collaboration will be part of Jamaica’s Rural Electrification Programme.
The REP is currently focusing on developing green energy solutions for households that are more than three kilometres from the national grid. The agency was founded in 1975, since which time it has provided over 80,000 homes in rural Jamaica.
Jamaica is among several Caribbean countries looking to solar energy to fill their fuel needs — most notably St Kitts and Nevis.
