Proposal to Build New Wind Farm Spins Forward

By: Patrick Schurr
HARRISBURG - More windmills could start spinning at a local state forest.
State Sen. John Wozniak (D-Johnstown) said his proposal unanimously passed a government committee on Tuesday.
It would allow alternative energy company EverPower to build 20 to 25 turbines on a former strip mine in the Gallitzin State Forest.
Wozniak said the proposed wind farm-- in addition to clean energy-- would produce millions of dollars in tax revenues and dozens of jobs.
EverPower has been running an operation in Cambria County since 2008 and is currently building another nearby.
Wozniak's bill now goes to the full senate for consideration.
