Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green’s Colt Nichols Wins 250 Pro Sport at Mammoth

Irvine, Calif. (June 30, 2013) – Saturday at Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross featured some of the best racing all week as the 250 classes took to the mountain. Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green’s Colt Nichols had a breakthrough ride to capture his first “big bear” and championship in 250 Pro Sport. Nichols put on a clinic in the first moto by passing nearly the entire field to come from last place to second by the checkered flag. In Moto 2, the Oklahoma native made it easy on himself by grabbing the holeshot and checking out by more than 20 seconds. In the 250 B class, Pro Circuit Team Green riders Darian Sanayei and Zac Commans battled upfront and finished third and fourth respectively.
Village Takeover
Once a year Mammoth Motocross takes over Mammoth Lakes, Calif., as riders and families come up to the prestigious race and spend the week enjoying the beautiful landscape and other activities like mountain biking, hiking, and fishing. On Saturday night the Monster Energy Pit Bike Challenge went off with five teams racing through the downtown village in front of a massive crowd. Kawasaki provided a fleet of KLX®110L mini-bikes for the four-man teams to face off on. Industry leaders went at it in a series of races that kept the crowd cheering as crashes and take outs were all part of the fun.
