Google's Innovation Unit at Work on Alternative Wind Power Project

Google X, the innovation facility of Google (GOOG), is working on a radically different green energy project which could have a significant impact on the future of energy production in the world. The project received a boost last month when Google acquired Makani Power, a low cost renewable energy generation company in the US. Makani Power uses complicated robotics to generate electricity.
Google executives are in the process of fine tuning the alternative wind energy project, one of the more promising projects from Google X. The intelligent technology expert of Google X, Astro Teller, recently dropped hints about the project at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. He said it would be fascinating to produce wind power from blade tips of wind turbines without putting the heavy turbines in space.
The latest innovation from Google X follows Project Loon from Google, which involves experimentation with solar-paneled balloons to bring Wi-Fi to remote areas of Africa and the Asia Pacific. Google X is also credited with the innovation of Google Glass.
Teller said that the technologists at Google X believe that with the current green energy project underway there is a real possibility to generate wind power in a radically cheaper and easier manner compared to the regular wind turbine. The innovation might have a serious role to play in the future of global energy production.
