Rural firms in Derbyshire are being invited along to two free events that can help them combat spiraling diesel, gas and electricity bills.
The energy seminars will show agricultural businesses how wind, solar energy, biomass and other renewable technologies are already helping many local farmers fight sharp increases in electricity bills.
There will be an explanation of the popular renewable technologies used in agriculture from Loryan Renewable Engineering, as well as free advice on financing from the Natwest Bank.
The seminars will also feature a brief talk from a farmer who is already benefiting from their own renewable systems. David Brown of Hoegrange Farm, near Cromford, will be speaking at one of the events on May 9.
Mr Brown, who has had both solar PV and a wind turbine installed said: “In recent years we have diversified into holiday homes on the farm. Our renewable projects not only save us money and generate us a guaranteed income, but they have helped win us several high profile national awards for our comittment to sustainability. It’s all very good for business.”
The events are being held at Staffordshire County Showground, Stafford, on Thursday, May 9 and Tuesday, May 14 at the Rudyard Hotel near Leek. However, Derbyshire firms are being encouraged to attend and it is thought to be the first event of its type on offer to firms in the county.
