Electric cars are gaining popularity at least in terms of news coverage. We may be in awe of Tesla, but Mahindra is looking to expand into the green market and has showcased its ambitions with the all new Halo concept sports car. Mahindra has gone all out at the 12 biennial auto expo.
The Halo concept sports car is an ambitious brand image building model which is of course far from going into production. Mahindra claims the Halo will do the 0-100 km/h run in under 10 seconds, has a range of over 250 kms on a full charge and will hit a top speed of 160 km/h. This may not be much considering it’s a sports car and even most hatch-backs will hit that speed, but for a Reva electric motor it is decent.
They also added the smart charging port to the e20. The point comes in behind the car next to where the number plate is placed and the functionality is similar to any regular petrol pump nozzle. Pravin Shah CEO, automotive sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd said, “We haven’t received the reaction we hoped for with the e20. It is a tough market to penetrate into, but we will continue to work towards strengthening the segment and building better and more accessible cars
They have showcased their two wheeler range including the Mojo and all new Centuro, their new range of trucks and technologies, the adventure sports range of SUV’s, not to mention the XUV hybrid, the Mahindra Ssangyong range and their range of electric cars including the Verito.
