Andy Palmer, Nissan’s executive vie president of Global Future Vehicles, said in an interview with Automotive News that Nissan has a “halo car” inspired by the Infiniti Emerg-E concept electric vehicle in the plan, but it isn’t approved for production. Depending on sales of the Q50 and SUVs like the QX60 – if they go well, Palmer says he can take the car to Nissan’s approval committee to get the green light.
Infiniti sees the Emerg-E has a high end luxury car, not a supercar like the Lamborghini.
The Infiniti Emerg-E Concept Vehicle has 420hp from mid, twin electric motors that can accelerate the vehicle from 0-60 mph in 4 seconds. It also has over 30 miles range on electric power alone. When the batteries are depleted, the range extender functions “in concert” with the twin electric motors
