Mitsubishi Delivers Seventy i-MiEV Electric Vehicles to Russian Presidential Office

Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) have just completed the delivery of 70 i-MiEV electric vehicles to Russia’s Presidential Office through MMC Rus, a company jointly owned by MC and MMC and the exclusive importer and distributor for Mitsubishi automobiles in Russia. Not only is this the very first time that Russia’s Presidential Office is purchasing electric vehicles, but Mitsubishi is also the only Japanese brand nominated as official supplier of vehicles to the Russian Presidential office at this moment.
Currently the only mass-produced electric vehicle sold in the country is i-MiEV and MMC Rus started selling this innovative vehicle in Russia from 2011, with accumulated sales approximately 200 units. The recent purchase by the Russian Presidential Office is a result of MMC Rus’ efforts to promote the zero-emission environmentally friendly nature of the electric vehicle in Russia.
Plans are afoot to use the i-MiEV as the means of transportation for officials within the Konstantinovsky Palace, accommodation for heads of participating countries and other officials during the G20 summit to be held in St. Petersburg on September 5 and 6. Following the summit, the i-MiEV will be put to use by the Presidential Office.
MMCR will take advantage of this opportunity to enhance promotion efforts for the electric vehicle in Russia.
