India's leading utility vehicle maker, Mahindra & Mahindra that launched several new vehicles in last two year including Mahindra XUV500, Quanto, new generation Verito, Verito Vibe and e2o has now said to launch no new product for two years, a report published in Business Standard claims. This means that the company's focus will be on revamping the existing line-up, a few days back, Mahindra rolled out the cheaper and feature cut version of the XUV500. There are also reports claiming that the company has also sorted out the technical glitches and problems reported by owners.
Speaking to the newspaper, Pawan Goenka, President (automotive and farm equipment sectors) Mahindra & Mahindra said, “We were ahead of the industry and we did all our major launches in last two years. This year we don’t have any new product launches, we do have variants for launch. Absolute new products will be launched only in FY2016”
Mahindra & Mahindra is also planning to launch the electric Verito, seeing the good response all-electric e2o received. The company claims to have been selling about 100 units per month of the e2o, which is rather a good number considering India isn't still ready for new fuel options.
“We are working on the electric Verito, we had said that we will be ready to launch the electric Verito by the first quarter of FY2015. We have been disappointed with the sales of the E2o. We are hoping for some announcement on the subsidy (from the government) very soon. If E2o sales take off then we will launch the electric Verito as planned”, added Goenka.
