DENMARK: Vestas has begun testing its V126 3.3MW low wind turbine at Denmark's national test centre in Osterild.
The blade for Vestas' V117 prototype
At the moment, a prototype of the V126 3.3MW machine is in testing with V112 blades. In the coming weeks, the V126 3.3MW prototype's rotor will be replaced with a 126-metre version.
While at the Lem Kjaer wind farm, in Denmark, a V117 3.3MW prototype turbine is in the final stages of commissioning. Additionally, two V112 3.3MW turbines are also being tested at the same site.
The V126 3.3MW and V117 3.3MW turbines are designed for low wind class III, and medium wind class II, wind speeds respectively.
In November last year, Vestas sold the first V126 3MW turbine to a project in Finland. Finnish developer TuuliWatti Oy has ordered three turbines although Vestas did not reveal where they would be located. Delivery is expected in Q4 2013.
