Teslas to be featured at electric-vehicle gathering in Dublin this weekend

By Jeff BellStaff reporter-Business First
Electric vehicle buffs who want to get a close-up look at the ultra-cool Teslas should circle this Friday and Saturday on their calendars, when as many as six of the electric cars will be on display during Green Energy Ohio’s spring event in Dublin.
“We’re pretty excited,” Green Energy Ohio Executive Director Bill Spratley told me. “It may be the biggest gathering of Teslas at one site.”
The cars made by Palo Alto, Calif.-basedTesla Motors Inc., which have only been on the road since June, will be the featured attraction at a free reception from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the Golf Club of Dublin. Some will also be on display during an electric vehicle cruise-in from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at Dublin Jerome High School.
The Tesla Model S recently drew a rave review from Consumer Reports, which wrote it was the best car it has ever tested. Prices start at $69,000 and can go over $100,000 for a tricked-out model.
Spratley said Tesla S car owner Steve Martinez is helping Green Energy Ohio with the event, which will also feature electric cars made by other manufacturers.
The Green Energy spring event will also offer a tour of solar, wind and energy-efficient green buildings Friday afternoon. Activities at Jerome High School on Saturday will include a number of speakers on solar and wind power, energy efficiency efforts, electric vehicles and public-policy issues for renewable energy.
All the events are free, but Spratley is asking people to register so Green Energy Ohio can plan accordingly.
GEO Volunteers met 12 times in March, April and May in Dublin to organize the GEO Spring Event on May 17-18.
