MELTON Council has secured funding from the Department of Energy and Climate Change to offer 50 free ‘Green Deal Assessments’ to residents.
The assessment would identify the most cost effective measures to improve the energy efficiency of your home.
Residents who take part will not be under any obligation to have any work carried out and as part of the assessment will receive a free EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) which usually costs about £100.
Green Deal is a way of financing energy saving improvements without any up-front cost. You pay it back through savings made in your energy bills for improvements such as:-
l Insulation – for example loft or cavity wall insulation
l Heating – such as a new boiler
l Draught-proofing
l Double glazing
l Renewable energy technologies – such as solar panels
This is applicable to home owners or those renting through private landlords.
